Biodance: The Korean Skincare Brand Built on Hydrogel Science
A Seoul-founded brand built around hydrogel formats and what it describes as a patented ultra-low molecular collagen.
Biodance is a Korean skincare brand founded in Seoul in 2021 around one core idea: that skin does best when you work with its natural balance, not against it. Built on what the brand describes as a patented 243-dalton ultra-low molecular collagen and a proprietary hydrogel format, it has become one of the more talked-about names in barrier-focused K-beauty globally.
Who Biodance Is For
If your skin is chronically dehydrated, barrier-compromised, or just prone to looking flat and tight by end of day, Biodance is a brand worth knowing. The brand describes its lineup as designed for meaningful hydration without stripping or overwhelming the skin. The brand centers on restoring and enhancing the skin's natural health, promoting long-term skin health instead of temporary fixes. That orientation makes it a natural fit whether you're managing a disrupted barrier, dealing with seasonal dryness, or simply trying to build a calmer, more consistent complexion.
Where Biodance Comes From
According to the brand, Biodance was founded in Seoul in 2021 by Mihwa Kim, whose recovery from facial burns left her fascinated by hydrocolloid dressings and convinced that skincare could do more than offer a temporary fix. That personal history is the engine behind the brand's entire product philosophy. During her recovery, the brand says, she saw how hydrogel dressings were used in medical care — and asked why that technology couldn't be reimagined for everyday skincare. That question became the foundation of Biodance's philosophy: helping skin restore its natural balance through hydrogel technology while creating skincare that supports long-term skin health rather than temporary results.
The brand name carries that same logic. The name Biodance is derived from the phrase "Balance In Our Guidance." It is operated by Beauty Selection Co., Ltd. and has expanded from its original mask into a broader product ecosystem — growing through Sephora, Douglas, Amazon, and leading European retail partners.
What Biodance Is Known For
The technology that defines Biodance is its patented 243-dalton ultra-low molecular collagen. According to the brand, its collagen has a particle size of 243 daltons, which it says helps absorption. Conventional collagen molecules are generally too large to penetrate the skin's surface; the brand presents its smaller fragment as designed to do more than coat it.
The Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask is a sheet-free hydrogel mask made from solidified essence rather than a fabric sheet soaked in serum. It contains patented 243Da ultra-low molecular weight collagen, patented oligo hyaluronic acid, and Galactomyces ferment filtrate. The mask responds to skin temperature, gradually releasing active ingredients while transforming from opaque to transparent. That visible shift — mask going clear as it absorbs — has become one of the brand's signature moments. According to the brand, its products go through an average of 45 rounds of development and are made without more than 20 ingredients it considers harsh, including artificial fragrances, parabens, and sulfates.
Beyond masks, Biodance has extended the same hydrogel core into a sprayable format. The brand describes the Collagen Peptide Jelly Serum Mist as a sprayable "Hydro Jelly" — a solid hydrogel inside the bottle that bursts into micro-gel droplets when sprayed — and says it locks in moisture more effectively than a watery mist. It is built on what the brand calls 77% patented 243Da collagen water and a 10-peptide complex.
